In Monterrey the industrial areas surpass by 8.6 times the green areas. Which making this city one of the most polluted cities in Latin America. Monterrey is on a serious deficit of trees and it will need about 1,700 hectares of green areas to have proper urban lungs.
One of the bigger Industries in Monterrey is Cementos Mexicanos CEMEX. As of today, CEMEX has 56 cement plants with presence in more than 50 countries worldwide.
Monterrey’s CEMEX plant is currently an abandoned factory site, and where the currently hypothetical project is based. The purpose of this project is to develop a master plan within the sorrounding communities and giving a purpose to the abandoned sites and it’s components like Cement Silos and factory infrastructure.
The objective was to recover as much as possible of the infrstructure and develop a multicultural city program that is very much needed in Monterrey, including green areas and re-living that part of the city that is very much excluded and dangerous.
